The Terror of the Plague Doctors Has Only Just Begun…

While completing this trilogy, it occurred to me that there were few other characters that I had put through as much physical torment as Annabel, Jezebel, and Henry.

Which, of course, is fitting, since this is the first series I have ever written with a plague as an antagonist. Oddly, this makes it a little harder to say goodbye to my tenacious trio. We’ve been through a lot together. I’ve bonded with them while putting them through hell. Yes, I’m aware of how strange that sounds. And I have to admit, I’m going to miss my plague doctors, too.

It was a new experience for me to write about something as unstoppable and unavoidable as death.

My plague doctors followed them anywhere, took who they wanted, and could only be held for a little longer. It’s an awesome, powerful force. Petulance itself. And admittedly a little hard to write about.

Villains normally have a weakness to exploit. The stronger they are, the harder it is to make sure your protagonists have a fair chance. Admittedly, I might not have been fair. Henry and the Lee sisters went through a lot. But I like to think that I wrangled them some opportunities they were smart enough to exploit.

Ashes to Ashes is now available on Amazon!

See you in the shadows,

Sara Clancy
