Horror is everywhere.
This statement is an absolute truth because for me, I see terror in everything.
Perhaps the most innocuous items are the worst. We can all tremble when we see a sinister Victorian, or shiver when we pass a shambling, rundown Gothic house.
But what about something ordinary?
Have you ever picked up a steak knife and wondered what damage could be done with it? Or a hatchet?
Nothing special, mind you. Just a simple hatchet, perhaps with a black head and a yellow, plastic handle. It is a cheap tool meant to be cast aside once its edge dulls. You may wince at the idea of it crashing into your skull, but when you think of it, you’re picturing a person who has seized the hatchet as a weapon of opportunity.
But what if it wasn’t? What if it was the weapon of a killer? Where would the killer live? In a ramshackle house, or a homeless camp on the outskirts of town?
What if the killer’s lived in a ranch? Like the hatchet, it is plain and simple, but there is something sinister about it.
So, come on and join me. We’re going to run like Death is hot on our heels.
Because it is. Death is a teenager with a loose grip on sanity and a tight hold on her hatchet. The ranch is hers, and if we’re not careful, we’ll be talking to her for a long time.
